It's a common experience that we see that some people are more affluent even though their life has no struggle whereas others can get access to the bare minimum necessity although they work very hard. Similarly a student performs very well in the class although he studies very less but another fellow of his class just manages to pass although he burns midnight oil. Well, there could be many factors which could affect a person's performance. Some people say it's the discretion of God or it depends upon an individual's luck or destiny. The theory of Karma says that it is all a result of your doings in the previous birth. If you are suffering today then it might be a result of you causing suffering to others in your previous birth.
We must have heard the famous English saying ,"As you sow, so shall you reap". The theory of Karma is almost the same but your doings are carried forward in your subsequent birth. So if you have sown happiness in someone's life in your previous birth, then you will be happy in this birth and vice-versa.The Bhagwad Gita also supports the law of Karma. It also says do all the good you can in all the ways you can.Sri Krishna has taught to Arjuna, the law of Karma when he was preaching him before the battle of Mahabharata.
If you do some introspection you might realize that you have done some bad actions in this life or rather actions which hurt others. You can still balance them out with good action if they are carried out selflessly.Your actions and deeds whether good or bad will be carried out in your next incarnation. The Hindu and Buddhist philosophy says that whatever action we perform is recorded in a person's soul and based on this, his destiny will be determined.
